From the ashes and hiatus of some of northern Germanys’ usual suspects in the diy-punk stompinggrounds, such as Stumbling Pins, No Weather Talks and Plastic Propaganda, this four-piece fromKiel / Leipzig is all about having fun with no more than three chords, eyeliner and the everlastingpromises of Rock’n’Roll. Between the lines, No Sugar make it clear that you can’t kick out the jamsif you don’t kick out toxic masculinity. It’s not a party, unless everyone can party. Love and passionare just as political as they can be fun or hurtful. No Sugar like to celebrate this with pizza-metaphors or citations of Rock’n’Roll-myths instead of trying to preach to the converted.Taking influences from the ditches of the last 5 decades of pop- (and punk!) culture andpredecessors as diverse as Bikini Kill, The Runaways, The Sonics or The Subways – No Sugar isdetermined to bring some partytimes to your local squat, bar, club or livingroom. Aus der Asche einiger umtriebiger, teilweise abgelebter DIY-Punk-Gruppen aus HH und Kiel – NoWeather Talks, Stumbling Pins und Plastic Propaganda – sind Ende 2017 No Sugar hervorgegangen.Bei No Sugar dreht sich alles um maximal drei Akkorde, Eyeliner und die ewigen Verlockungen desRock’n’Roll. Inhaltlich wird hier unmissverständlich klar gemacht, dass die Party nur dannfunktioniert wenn Mackertum rausgekickt wird; dass Liebe und Leidenschaft nicht nur weh tunkönnen, sondern auch politisch sind. No Sugar zelebrieren aber lieber mit Pizza-Metaphern undRock‘n‘Roll-Zitaten als mit Moral und Zeigefinger.Musikalisch werden Einflüsse aus den letzten 5 Jahrzehnten Pop- und Punkkultur, von Joan Jett undBikini Kill, über The Sonics bis The Subways verbraten – RiotGarageRockGrrrl-Indie-Punk wäre alsodas entsprechende Genre. 2018 erschien mit ‘Wasting Time w/ Rock’n‘Roll’ die erste EP beimBremer Label Sabotage Records.

Im Oktober 2019 folgt nun, veröffentlicht durch Sabotage & Inhumano (Vinyl) und Dirt Cult (Tape),das Debut Album ‘Rock’n’Roll Isn’t Boring, It’s You’, aufgenommen von Tommy Tift in denlegendären The End Studios in Lund, Schweden.
